Simplified Return Tracking
It’s your money and Amazon may owe you more than you know. It happens to me all the time: I buy something and I don’t use it, I don’t like it, or it just gets forgotten. By the time I try to return it, the return window has closed. More clutter, less money. Boo!
That’s where Return Goblin comes in - a return tracker that takes your receipts and reminds you when your return window is closing. We launched last month with support for Amazon and the response has been amazing. Today we’re announcing two updates to Return Goblin.
A simplified Saturday morning digest
Goblin is adding a weekly digest: one email, Saturday morning, listing every return you have open and how many days are left on each.
We set the send time to 7am Eastern and 4am Pacific on Saturday morning so it hits your weekend chore time. (And the post office is open.)
We also simplified the individual reminders. You’ll still get a nudge about nine days before a window closes and a final one about two days out.
Amazon’s recent order changes
Amazon recently started removing specific item details from some order confirmations. Where the product name used to be, there’s just a category like “Furniture,” or “Health item.”
Goblin still works. When Amazon won’t say what the item was, we track the order by category instead of by product. Rather than “Hydro Flask 32oz — 12 days left,” you’ll see something closer to “Home & Kitchen — 12 days left.” Unfortunately we lose the label, but you won’t lose the reminder. And if Amazon tells us what you bought, we’ll still use the item details.

Goblin reads the order, works out the return window from Amazon’s published policy for that category, and starts the clock. You get a short confirmation back so you know it landed.
If you forward an order with multiple items in it, all items get tracked separately because a laptop and a t-shirt don’t have the same deadline. If you’ve already started a return, forward Amazon’s confirmation email too — that’s how Goblin picks up the second clock, the drop-off date, the one that matters most.

We’re building software that takes the side of the person using it, and this is the smallest, most honest demonstration of that we could ship: a thing that costs you nothing and hands you back money that was already yours. It doesn’t read your inbox. It only ever sees the individual emails you choose to forward. We don’t sell your data and we don’t advertise against it.
What it can’t do
Return-window reminders are estimates, built from Amazon’s published category windows. If Amazon’s date differs from ours, Amazon’s date wins — check Your Orders. Drop-off reminders use the exact date Amazon gave you, so those are firm.
Goblin claws hard for your refund but can’t promise one.
